Today is the other half’s birthday.
Lee is his name and he is the love of my life. He’s so patient and caring and thoughtful (ish) and kind. He is funny, makes a great chilli, gives great cuddles and puts desperadoes in the fridge without me even asking. We’ve been together nearly 5 years and I’ve really never been happier. Having Dexter has made us stronger and happier as a couple because we’ve been such a support for one another. He really is everything I need him to be and more. Aside to all this he’s a brilliant Dad.
When I watch him with Dexter my heart turns into a big gloopy mess. Dex looks at him with such love and admiration that there is no denying he’s already a Daddy’s boy. He’ll coo and climb all over Lee until he blows a raspberry on his belly or neck then crack up laughing like its the first time it’s ever happened. Their special time together is bath-time, something so sacred I never get a look in.
When I asked Lee what he wanted for his birthday he said he didn’t need anything. Need? Want? What’s the difference? I wanted to do something special that Lee would be able to treasure. His first birthday as a Dad is a big deal and I really didn’t want it to go unnoticed. I wanted to organise a big ish gesture that my maternity pay could stretch too. I knew I wanted to involve Dexter too so I created the pictures below (with a little bit of help!)
I hope he likes them.
Happy birthday Lee Kauder, my silver fox.
